I'm going to be a wife.

Last Sunday, November 8, 2009, Mark surprised me by going horseback riding before our planned trip to Baltimore, Maryland. It was the one of the most gorgeous November days. We went on a trail ride for about an hour & a half through the woods of Chester County. We had a trail leader & then Mark & I were following. I haven’t been on a horse in over 10 years – I absolutely loved getting back on. When we got back to the barn, our trail leader asked if she could show us the bald eagles. We jumped on the back of the golf cart & I was searching. I didn’t see one damn bird. We pulled up to this little creek & a small round table decorated with roses, a picture of Mark & I, snacks, wine & a card! I still had no clue. I didn’t want to get my hopes up. We poured our wine (special bottle Mark was saving from Italy) & ate some cheese. Before long, he was on his knee asking me to marry him. I could not have asked for a better proposal.

We immediately called our family & friends. Mark had asked my Dad the Monday before, but when we called my parents, my mom cried. She was so excited for us. Our other family members and all of our friends screamed! We loved each and every one of your reactions to our special news. I cannot believe we are getting married. I never thought love & a relationship would be so wonderful, passionate, & understanding. It has only been a week but we have truly enjoyed our time together & our planning process for our December 31, 2010 wedding.

Being engaged means so much. All the love. Plenty of planning. Finishing the house. Moving. I know I’ll always be a daughter, & my parents will enjoy our visits. But will I still be the baby girl? If I wanted, could I stay at home for a few nights? What will I do this year for Christmas – wake up a home or at Mark’s on Christmas morning? We are also having a lot of thought to our faith.

Besides all of our thoughts, we are truly glowing.

Thank you for making us feel so special.
