Dark & Dirty, just the way we like it.

(Please know the following blog was supposed to be posted two weeks ago but I wanted to wait to upload the pictures with the actual post. Please accept the delay.)

A few Saturday's ago, was my first Dark & Dirty run. It was hosted by www.pretzelcitysports.com in Reading, PA. After completing the Broad Street run I figured I could do anything. I asked friends if they wanted to come & only two were as crazy as me. So, I bought a head lamp for $7 @ Target and figured if it became annoying I would just toss it into the woods. This was my blessing. To say the least, this was one of the most adventurous things I've ever done...

The run started off in a nice park with a paved road but we were obviously fooled. By a quarter mile (of 6.66 miles), we followed everyone else running up a mountain with no real direction. The trails were marked by glow sticks but head lamps were the ‘cool’ thing to have… I think a necessity. We ran through buckets of rain, knee high mud, tripped on hundred of rocks, & visited (what seemed) like the highest place in Reading. This run was insane & I would do it again in a heartbeat.

If nothing else, it was time with Heidi & Marlo. At one point in the run, Heidi had fallen directly on her butt. She had thought it may be bleeding so as any good friend would do, I said I would confirm or deny. So, with my head lamp on, one butt cheek out I looked & said, “yup, that’s gonna be a bruiser.”

They are wonderful friends with unforgettable memories & I couldn’t feel luckier to go through the woods with them.
